Most complete and accurate Rebel XS Guide May 11, 2009 Conan F. Thomas (Elmsford, NY) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
My whole family recently made the transition to Canon from another brand, and I'm glad that this author's books were available to help us. I was so pleased with Busch's guide to the Canon EOS 50D that I purchased this one at the same time my wife picked up her Rebel XS. It has the same kind of in-depth coverage of the camera I found in the 50D book, arranged in a way that won't confuse a beginner. Yet, there is enough meat here that as you learn you'll continually find new techniques and information to help you grow photographically.
Simply put, this book has roughly twice as much useful information as the other XS books I looked at. The compact guides do a good job of explaining the different features and controls, but this one does it better, with lots of tips on why and when you should use a particular setting. When my wife and I upgrade to our next cameras in a year or three, we'll do it with confidence as long as Busch's guides are there to show us the way.
Excellent book. February 5, 2010 BV of Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Prior to purchasing this book and camera I had been using a simple point and shoot and understood virtually nothing beyond using a camera on auto settings. From a beginners standpoint this was a great book for both learning how to operate an SLR camera and understand fundamental basics of photography. It details how to get the most out of the camera for different situations, working with lenses, flash, accessories, basics on photo editing software etc. The camera itself is an excellent entry level SLR, this book really goes the distance on how to maximize it to its full potential without being too confusing. I'm about to upgrade to a canon 7d, figured I'd recommend this book for anyone looking to learn this camera.
A top pick for any Canon owner July 17, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Owners of the digital Canon EOS Rebel will appreciate an in-depth survey of one of the most advanced entry-level cameras Canon has ever made. From choosing lenses and electronic flash options to selecting shutter speeds, using Live View, and troubleshooting tips, this is the owner's manual that should have been in the box, and is a top pick for any Canon owner.
Excellent Resource June 20, 2010 Marie Wright (Suffolk, VA United States) This camera model specific book is instructive and the most helpful resource I've ever seen. It is well written and detailed to every feature of the camera. Finally, a manual that is not only readable, but seriously helpful!
Great Book, explain how to work with your canon from a to z June 25, 2009 Pagliaro Russo Nicolas (Uruguay) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
